Neenah High student injured after running into side of semi

NEENAH (NBC 26) -- A 14 -year-old Neenah High School student was injured at about 6:57 a.m. Monday after running into the side of a passing semi, according to Neenah Police.

Neenah Police officers responded to the semi versus pedestrian crash on Main Street at Western Avenue. Officers arrived on the scene where the student was being treated by Gold Cross Ambulance and Neenah/Menasha Fire Department.

In speaking with several witnesses and reviewing in-vehicle dash camera footage from the semi, the juvenile ran across the road into the side of a passing semi, according to police. Officers were able to speak with the alert juvenile before they were transported to a local hospital.

Neenah Police remind pedestrians to look both ways before crossing the road, wear lighter clothing to be more visible in the early morning hours and use flashing amber lights to assist at designated crosswalks when available.
