She is currently in Tokyo representing Team USA as a member of the women's four rowing team at the Olympics.

Her parents were in Neenah to accept the honor.

"People we don't even know, like a neighbor's sister, sent a card," Mother Janet Wanamaker said. "It's just really kind of amazing to be a part of a community like this."

Wanamaker's first race as an Olympic rower is Friday night at 10 p.m.

Her parents say she didn't start competitively rowing until she decided to walk on to UW-Madison's team.
