GRAND CHUTE, Wis — If you live in the Fox Valley and enjoy coffee or cats, we have a story that will resonate with you tonight. On Saturday the first cat cafe opened in northeast Wisconsin. It’s called the Pawffee Shop Cat Café and it’s a place where you can get a cup of Joe and consider adopting one of their dozen kittens that the owners keep next door.

Not every small businesses grand opening will have customers lining up outside the door just to make a purchase, but the Pawfee Shop offers free cat snuggles with every cup of coffee and folks lined up for the opportunity to see it first.

The Pawfee Shop Cat Cafe just opened on Saturday and the response has been pretty incredible. Folks from across our viewing area have been showing up to get a cup of coffee and then hang out at northeast Wisconsin’s first cat cafe. It’s a place where customers can mingle with over a dozen kittens that are looking to be adopted.

"We have a lot of great shelters in the area but we wanted to have a different way for people to meet the cats and find out more about their personalities," says Leah Enking the co-owner of the Pawfee Shop Cat Café.

"They'll come up to you to cuddle and a lotta the guys in there love to do that," adds customer and cat lover Allison Bowles of Green Bay.

All of these cats came from the Green Bay Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary and most have some special needs that require additional care. If you do encounter a cat at the coffee shop that you just have to bring home, management says they have folks on site that can help you with the process of making it happen.
