MARINETTE COUNTY (NBC 26) -- The Wisconsin Department of Justice is releasing the names of people involved in a fatal officer shooting in Marinette County.

According to the DOJ, Marinette County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a domestic incident call in the town of Amberg last Friday morning. When deputies arrived, they saw an individual sitting in a car. State officials said that person left the scene in his car and law enforcement followed. Then, officials say the individual left his car and showed a gun. The person was then shot by law enforcement.

On Tuesday, the DOJ said Marinette County Sheriff’s Deputy Jesse Parr, in law enforcement for 5 years, was the officer who discharged his weapon at the individual on Friday, striking him.

Law enforcement began life-saving measures on the person, who is now identified as Duane W. Rich, age 74 of Wausaukee. Rich was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

No law enforcement personnel or others were injured during the incident. The involved officer from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office has been placed on administrative duty, per department policy.

The DOJ continues its investigation.
