GREEN BAY — The Tall Ships event is one of several events looking to draw a big crowd this weekend.
In addition to Tall Ships, Packers training camp has begun at Lambeau, and down in Oshkosh there's EAA AirVenture. In a way, all these events are competing for the eyes and dollars of locals and tourists, but they can also be a nice benefit to each other.
"There's a lot for somebody to do if they're coming to the area for the weekend,” Terry Charles with PMI Entertainment Group. “Whether they're going to EAA, stopping at Packers training camp, and now to add the ships, it's another thing to do to fill that weekend."
This event has been a big draw in the past. In 2016, the ships brought a $4.4 million economic impact to the Green Bay area. The first chance to see these ships up close will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
