MARINETTE (NBC 26) — The City of Marinette is already thinking about spring, and is hard at work with their annual Easter Basket Project. Through the program, pre-filled baskets made by several partnering volunteers, groups, and organizations will be donated to children in need throughout the community.
In past years, over 400 baskets were delivered locally. Each basket is made by church youth groups, businesses, scout troops, classroom project, neighborhood gatherings, non-profit organizations, retired teachers, and private citizens. Several businesses hold competitions between departments for a monetary or quantity donation.
If a business, organization or individual person would like to help the Easter Basket Project there are several ways. Pre-made baskets, items or monetary donations should be brought to the Community REC Center located at 2501 Pierce Ave, in Marinette, before March 26, to ensure they get delivered in time.
If you'd like to participate, but not assemble a basket, volunteers are available to shop and put together a basket for you. A suggested donation of $50.00 will purchase 5 baskets and its contents.
All donations can be dropped off at the Community REC Center located at 2501 Pierce Ave, during regular business hours Monday through Sunday.
