DE PERE, Wis. — Camping season has arrived! Many people kicked off their summer of camping this weekend.

"It's always the kick off to summer. Everyone looks forward to it, and it's amazing weather this weekend after a very cold spring.," said Pam Packee, the manager at Apple Creek Campground in De Pere.

The campground is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Packee said that for a lot of people, it's a tradition to come to this campground every year over this weekend, and the campground was full, packed with trailers, tents, RVs, and many people excited camping season is finally here.

"The great thing about camping is we get to make memories with our kids," said Trey Schlechty who was camping with his family.

He said they didn't have to travel too far for their weekend getaway, but that's the beauty of camping, driving even just a few miles to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

"Almost all the families within this area are coming camping here that do come camping," said Packee.

For many, it's an exciting time no matter your age, and at the end of the day, it's all about making memories with the ones you love.

"Sitting back and relax and enjoy time together," said Schlechty.

Many campers said they are ready for more weekends just like this one.
