Manitowoc Police search for teen suspects in Wednesday night shooting

MANITOWOC (NBC 26) -- Police said officers are investigating a shooting that occurred in Manitowoc on Wednesday night.

Police said at 8:38 p.m. the department responded to a report of shots fired in the 700 block of South 24th Street. Shortly after responding, police said officers received information that an 18-year-old Sheboygan man was at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. The injuries were non-life threatening.

According to Manitowoc Police, evidence of shots being fired was located at the scene.

Police said two suspects approached the car the victim was in and took an item from the victim. Police said the suspects ran off and when the victim ran after them, the suspects fired shots, with one round striking the victim.

The first suspect is described as a white male in late teens shorter in stature. The second suspect is described as a black male in late teens about six feet tall with hair in short dreads.

Police indicate in a statement that the victim had connections to the suspect and that the community isn't in danger. The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
