FOND DU LAC, Wis. (NBC 26) -- A man pulled from the Fond du Lac river Thursday night has died.
Fond du Lac Fire Rescue crews were called to the area of West Johnson Street and Satterlee Street for a report of a man in the river who could not swim just before 6:00 p.m., according to a news release.
A witnesses told rescue crews that a 37-year-old man from Fond du Lac was attempting to swim across the river and went under.
One witness jumped in after him but was unable to locate him.
Fond du Lac Fire Crews, Fond du Lac Police, nearby fire departments, and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Dive team took part in the search.
After searching for an hour, crews located the man underwater and brought him to shore.
Rescue crews say the victim did not have a pulse.
According to an updated press release the 37-year-old was pronounced dead at St Agnes Hospital.
The victim's name is not being released at this time pending notification of family.
The incident is still under investigation.
