WASHINGTON COUNTY (TMJ4) -- A good Samaritan became the victim of a carjacking when he pulled over to help someone stranded on the highway and was held at gunpoint.
According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the suspect was standing directly behind a silver Buick on the side of I-41 southbound. He was holding a gas can and was acting like he ran out of gas.
The good Samaritan, a 57-year-old Muskegon, Mich., man pulled over in front of the suspect's vehicle to help.
The suspect walked up to the passenger side of the victim's truck, opened the door, pointed a gun at him, and ordered him to get out.
As this happened, the silver Buick fled.
Following this incident, the sheriff's office sent out a press release and said, "In this case a firearm was pulled on an innocent victim who was only trying to be a Good Samaritan to the very individuals that wronged him. We want to ensure these individuals do not victimize anyone further and that is why we are asking for the public’s help.”
The sheriff's office describes the suspect as a white man, 6 ft. tall and 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans, dark sunglasses and black work boots.
Additionally, the stolen vehicle was a 2016 Dodge Ram with a Wisconsin license plate of LB4966. If you see the vehicle, do not confront the driver and call 911.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information or dash cam video to contact them at 262-335-4420.
