MANITOWOC (NBC 26) — A Kimberly man died after authorities pulled him from the water in Manitowoc over the weekend.

According to the Manitowoc Police Department, police and firefighters responded at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday to the north pier, commonly referred to as the “Blue Rail,” at 475 Maritime Drive. There was a report of a man in the water in need of help.

Authorities were able to pull the man out of the water, perform life-saving measures on him, and bring him to shore. He was then taken to an area hospital where police say he died.

Police identified the victim as a 47-year-old Kimberly man. His name is not being released pending the notification of family members.

Police say they found his boat just off the beach area, directly across from Dairy Queen, in the 800 block of Memorial Drive.

Manitowoc Police are still investigating the incident.
