GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- A male fell through the ice on the East River around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Green Bay Police.
A caller said they heard a male calling for a help on the river near the intersection of Main St. and N. Roosevelt St.
Police say when they arrived they found a hole in the ice, with only footprints leading to it and not away from.
Green Bay Metro Fire began search efforts using watercraft and other equipment while also trying to break up the ice. At this point nobody was found under the ice. Police say it's possible he may have traveled downstream.
The male's identity is unknown at this time.
This afternoon, Green Bay Police say members of their dive team, along with the DNR Game Warden, are figuring out when it will be safe to continue search efforts and send members in the water. They are reminding people to stay off the ice.
Anybody with information regarding this incident or knows of anyone who is missing and would have been traveling on foot in this area is encouraged to call the Green Bay Police Department at (920) 448-3208.
