GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Several local cinemas are reopening after being shut down due to the COVID-19 panemic.
According to a list on Marcus Theatres' website, theatres including Bay Park Cinema, Green Bay East Cinema, Hollywood Cinema in Appleton and Oshkosh Cinema are all reopening. Bay Park Cinema is reopening this Friday, while other theatres are reopening next Friday.
"It is about time we embrace the movie going culture again," said Rob Novak, the concessions director with Marcus Theatres.
Marcus Theatres previously shut down all locations back in March due to coronavirus concerns. It reopened some locations, including Appleton's Valley Grand movie theater, in June.
They say they chose this week to reopen some places because new movies are scheduled to come out later this month.
"Originally it was old movies getting replayed," Novak said. "Now people can have a conversation starter again."
Patrons will be required to wear masks while inside the theatre, except for eating or drinking.
