GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — With a second case of Coronavirus confirmed in the United States, local health officials are closely monitoring the situation.

"We have contact with public health so they give us guidance on what we should be doing do we follow their guidance as best we can," Bellin Health Infection Prevention Team Leader Carol Bess said.

Bess said they're continuing to make sure they have the most up to date information on the illness and always want to be prepared for situations like this.

"With any respiratory illness, we always want to make sure that our staff are masking patients coming in with symptoms," she said.

Bess said they also want to make sure providers are being masked.

"They do know that it is now being spread person to person," she said. "I think it's just important that people protect each other so if you're sick, stay home don't be out and about infecting others."

As of right now, Bess says it's not a time to panic.

"Public health is watching it very closely," Bess said. "They're taking action that they need to i think they're very on top of what's going on and they're communicating well with healthcare providers and letting us know what we should do if we would get a case."

Bess adds, she believes it's important to stay alert as the situation has been changing daily.
