GREEN BAY (NBC26) - Shopping cart after shopping cart was filled up Saturday, to help fill a gap in Brown County.

It's part of the Gifts for Teens program. It’s a partnership between the Green Bay Metro Fire department and NBC26.

Saturday, firefighters went shopping at Meijer to get presents for teens in need. This is the first time pairing up with the store.

“The teens get forgotten,” said Chad Decker, an engineer paramedic. “It’s really easy to buy for younger kids the cute stuff, the toys you know they’re going to play with. Teens are a little bit tougher. They’re each an individual which makes it harder to buy for. We found out there was this giving gap; and we thought, what a better way for us to go out in the public and have our community help us fill this gap.”

All of the gifts will be delivered to the Salvation Army on Monday. This year they raised $15,175 to buy 823 gifts. In total, they’ll be delivering 1,783 gifts next week!
