MENASHA (NBC 26) -- A local dairy farmer lends a hand to the St. Joseph Food Program in Menasha.

Petersen Dairy purchased milk at Northland Festival Foods to donate to the food program on Tuesday. In turn, the Northland store will match up to 100 gallons of milk.

Directors for St. Joseph say the generosity will go a long way.

"It makes a big impact on us financially for one, because we normally have to purchase every gallon of milk that we ever get for our clients, and we give clients milk every single day,” said Scott Schefe, Operations Manager for St. Joseph's Food Program. “And we also know the importance of milk in a diet, so that the clients of our can have some milk and get the nutrition and calcium that they need."

St. Joseph Food Program is a non-profit funded by cash and food donations.
