Live music is back in parts of Northeast Wisconsin this summer.

After the COVID-19 pandemic canceled The Electric City Experience in 2020, the festival is back in Kaukauna starting Wednesday at Hydro Park and the Kaukauna Farmers Market lot. The event will include a carnival midway, food trucks, beverages, and five stages of live music.

“Everything was canceled in 2020 and it’s so nice that we can finally come to see live music again," said Sue VanThiel, Kaukauna

The Electric City Experience is completely outdoors and organizers have COVID-19 safety measures in place.

The festival will run June 9-12. Below is the schedule:

  • Wednesday: "Live from Hydro Park" kickoff from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Thursday: "Kids Carnival Day" from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday: Live music from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Saturday: Live music from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Friday and Saturday will feature about 50 musicians from across the region.

“The most exciting thing for me is the fact that we’re able to be together again, and there is nothing better than live music to bring people together," said Jim Collar, communications manager for the Electric City Experience.

Future Neenah announced the launch of the 2021 Shattuck Park Summer Concert Series. The concerts are located at Shattuck Park in downtown Neenah and are free for attendees.

There will be food trucks and other vendors for concert goers. Organizers encourage people to bring lawn chairs and blankets. People can also bring a boat to the concert; tie-up spaces will be available.

Hundreds of people attended the first concert of the series Wednesday. Concert goers watched the band, Copper Box, play from their lawn chairs or boats.

Nikki Hessel, executive director of Future Neenah, said they held live concerts on a small scale or drive-thru style in 2020. She said this year is more like normal.

“It honestly feels like we’re getting to see our closest friends again, come down here, share live, local music and we’re just so grateful for the support of the community to be able to do this again this year," Hessel said.
