Law enforcement investigating 5 suspicious Fond du Lac fires

FOND DU LAC CO. (NBC 26) -- Investigators are looking into five suspicious fires that happened in Fond du Lac County both Thursday and Friday mornings.

The Fond du Lac Sheriff's Office said they all happened within a 30-hour time period; and say they might be related. While deputies are still collecting evidence, they said at least three of the fires appear to be intentionally set.

They happened at the following locations:

  • Fire 1: 231 N. Military Rd. City of Fond du Lac at 3:00 a.m. Thursday
  • Fire 2: 729 Maine Ave. Village of North Fond du Lac at 12:30 a.m. Friday
  • Fire 3: N7494 Lakeshore Dr. Town of Friendship at 4:31 a.m. Friday
  • Fire 4: 17 Meadowlark Ct. Village of North Fond du Lac at 5:07 a.m. Friday
  • Fire 5: 60 Clinton St. Village of North Fond du Lac at 8:58 a.m. Friday

The Sheriff's Office is encouraging residents in the area to inspect the exterior of their homes and report anything suspicious.

Anyone with relevant information should call the Wisconsin Arson Tip Line at 1-800-362-3005. Tipsters can remain anonymous and tips that result in arrest and conviction can be eligible for a reward up to $5,000.

Fond du Lac County residents can also contact local law enforcement at 920-929-3390, and anonymous tips can be reported on the Fond du Lac County Law Enforcement Tip Line at 920-906-4777.

Anyone noticing a suspicious person or circumstance in progress should call 911 immediately to report the incident.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting in the investigation.
