GREEN BAY — Many people across Northeast Wisconsin came to Shopko Sunday for one final day of bargain hunting before the Green Bay based retail store closes for good.
"I used to go to Shopko a lot," said Rod Robillard, one of many shoppers who came out Sunday. "Our economy is supposed to be good, I don't know why big stores like this are closing."
Shopko started liquidation sales back in the spring. Now, shoppers spent most of the day taking home store shelves and last stocked goods.
"It's tough, very tough," said Joe Waslowski, another shopper. He lives down the road from Shopko and would go multiple times a week. Now, he has to find a new place to do his shopping.
"I was shocked when I found out it was closing," Waslowski said. "It's a sad day for Green Bay."
Some of Shopko's locations are now up sale going for as much as $6,000,000.
