OSHKOSH (NBC 26) — UPDATE: A 27-year-old man is facing a homicide charge after a shooting in Oshkosh Saturday morning.
It happened at an apartment building on the 1700 block of Taft Avenue. Police said they were called for a welfare check around 4:30 a.m. and found Jarvis Gladney, 36, with a gunshot wound lying in a hallway. Gladney was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.
Detectives said they identified the shooter as a 27-year-old man. The Oshkosh Police Department said both its SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams were called in to help. For about six hours, the teams were on scene as negotiators spoke over the phone with the shooter.
After hours of communication, police said they were safely able to arrest the shooter. He is facing a homicide charge.
"We appreciate the community's patience and understanding while we investigated this complaint." said the department.
The 1700 block of Taft Ave. is now open.

(11:19 a.m.) UPDATE: Oshkosh police said they found a man with a gunshot wound Saturday around 4:30 a.m.
The Oshkosh Police Department reported a call for a welfare check of a man laying in the hallway of an apartment building on the 1700 block of Taft Avenue.
Upon arrival, police said they found a 36-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
Police ask everyone to continue avoiding the area for the time being. The investigation is still ongoing.
