CLEVELAND, Wis. (NBC 26) — Lakeshore Technical College says it has received the Military Friendly School designation for the 12th consecutive year.

The designation is granted to schools with services and programs to help veteran students. More than 1,200 schools participated in the 2021-2022 survey with 747 earning the designation, Lakeshore Technical College says, which indicates leading practices, outcomes and effective programs.

"This designation tells our community the services and programs we have in place are helping veterans achieve meaningful educational outcomes,” said Lakeshore President Dr. Paul Carlsen.

Lakeshore says it works with County Veterans Services, Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs and the Federal Veterans Administration to ensure veterans have access to resources that can support success.

Through the Wisconsin GI Bill, veterans and their dependents can apply for tuition and material fee waivers. Lakeshore also processes state level Retraining Grant Applications for veterans who are dislocated workers, National Guard Tuition Grant Applications and VetEd Reimbursement Grants.

Registration for new and returning veterans begins April 5 for summer and fall terms. Other new and returning students can begin registering April 6.
