Kmart store in Waupaca closing, laying off 41 employees

WAUPACA — A Kmart in Waupaca is set to close this fall, prompting a layoff of 41 employees, according to a WARN notice issued Friday.

The WARN notice states the Kmart store, located at 830 West Fulton Street in Waupaca, is expected to layoff workers around November 17. A public notice shows the majority of positions being laid off are checkout service associates.

DWD and Fox Valley Workforce Development Board, will offer Rapid Response Services to affected workers, DWD states in the WARN notice.

The notice states a "change in business circumstances" as the reason for the closure.
