A kangaroo was on the loose briefly Thursday morning in Kenosha County – after it managed to escape from a  farm.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department was called to Jerry Smith’s Pumpkin Farm in the Town of Somers around 7:15 a.m. Thursday for a report of a loose animal.

When Sheriff’s deputies arrived to the farm, it was determined that 5-year-old “Joey”  possibly escaped by kicking open its confine gate. He ended up heading west on Highway L.

The kangaroo was found safely shortly after and was returned back to the farm - without injury to anyone.
