GREEN BAY, Wis — It’s freshmen move in day at UWGB. Which means for the first time in countless young adults lives, they’re leaving the nest and venturing out on their own.
Thousands of young adults across northeast Wisconsin are moving out of their parent’s homes for the first time. At UWGB NBC26 chatted with the incoming class and their parents about what dorm life is all about and how it’s changed over the years.

The parents we spoke with say the dorm rooms themselves have changed drastically since they went to college in every way but size. Nowadays students at UWGB have showers, a bathroom, and even a sink in their dorm room. All of the amenities that only have to be shared with your roommate. And on top of that, the move in process only takes about a half an hour for most. That’s because of the onslaught of volunteers on campus helping unpack all of the freshman class’s belongings.

"It seems speedier! They have the carts down there, they have people that come and help. My second year I was on the fourth floor so I remember trip after trip going up the stairs, so I would say efficiency probably," says Mary Koschnik who is dropping her son off at UWGB.

"Just moving into the dorm it was pretty painless, they have a great system here," says Cade Koschnik who just moved into his new dorm at UWGB.

Sure unpacking and moving all of your belongings is stressful, but for the majority of students and their parents NBC26 chatted with the toughest part about the move, was saying their good byes.
