DE PERE — A veteran De Pere firefighter has been promoted to chief of the department.
Brett Jansen will take the reins starting June 9. Jansen replaces Al Matzke who retired in April.
The De Pere Police and Fire Commission announced the move on Monday night.
Jansen has served the department for almost 20 years and is currently a battalion chief, according to the commission.
