GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Green Bay Metro Fire Department (GBMFD) responded to a house fire and added another red bulb to their wreath Thursday afternoon. This is the department's 11th red bulb in the wreath this season.
GBMFD was called for smoke in a home's attic. When they arrived, everyone from the residence was outside and safe. Nobody was hurt from the fire.
The Department says they used a thermal imaging camera to find the hot spot in the attic. Once the spot was found they pulled the ceiling down and extinguished the fire.
They say total time for salvage and overhaul was done within half an hour. GBMFD determined the cause of the fire to be overheated wiring due to multiple space heaters and electrical appliances plugged in at once.
They would like to remind people to use caution with space heaters and nuver use a power strip with one. When in doubt, follow the manufacture's safety warnings.
