MARINETTE COUNTY (NBC 26) — Roadways that had previously been closed Wednesday due to a train derailment are now reopening, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

WisDOT said Thursday that Southbound Highway 141 is now open between Pound and Coleman. Northbound Highway 141 is opening at approximately noon Thursday, WisDOT says.

A train derailed late Wednesday morning when authorities said a rear-end crash pushed vehicles that were stopped at a railroad crossing into a passing train. One person was killed in the crash, according to the Marinette County Sheriff.

The Sheriff cited thick fog impairing driver visibility as a factor in the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
