GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — A man is in jail following a fatal stabbing in Green Bay that reportedly started with a road rage incident.

Police responded to two different locations in Green Bay for an investigation Sunday evening. Green Bay Police taped off areas at the Marathon gas station on E. Walnut St. and S. Monroe Ave and the Walgreens on E. Mason St. and Baird St.

Police said at 5:16 p.m. Sunday, Green Bay Police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call at East Mason Street at Baird Street for a 25 year old man in critical condition suffering from a stab wound. Officers determined that the stabbing occurred in the parking lot of 610 East Walnut Street.

According to Green Bay Police, the victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died early Monday morning.

Police identified 43-year-old Joseph E. Olvera as a suspect.

According to police, Olvera was leaving the Marathon gas station after pumping gas and was apparently cut off by another vehicle. Police said Olvera then went after the vehicle, but picked the wrong car. Police say two men got out and argued with Olvera. According to police, a witness told investigators Olvera was holding a knife and stabbed the victim.

Following an investigation, officers found Olvera at around 1:00 p.m. on Monday in a residence in the 1500 block of Charles Street and he was taken into custody. Police said Olvera is being held at the Brown County Jail, and charges will be presented to the Brown County District Attorney’s office "as soon as practicable," police said in a news release.

The victim has not been identified yet, pending notification of kin, police said.
