Puppy reported missing after crash in Green Bay has now been found safe

UPDATE: The family says the puppy has now been found safe.

The puppy, named River, was apparently found by Officer Jones of the State Police. River was discovered near the Brown County Jail.

River's owner is recovering in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- A family is searching for a dog missing from a car crash in Green Bay.

Around 7:40 a.m. Friday, Green Bay Police said a woman's car rolled over while on Highway 54/57 just before the Nicolet exit. The woman has been hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, according to her family.

The woman's family said a puppy was in the car at the time of the crash and was thrown from the vehicle. The family is certain that the puppy survived, based on tracks found in the snow.

The family also says one passerby reported seeing the puppy near some pine trees in the area just north of the Nicolet exit. Police also tried searching for the puppy, but couldn't find him.

The dog's name is River, but he may also respond to "Buddy". He's an Australian Shepherd puppy with brown and white fur. If found, please call the number or bring the dog to Bay East Animal Hospital, their phone number is 920-468-5800. He may be injured.
