GREEN BAY (NBC26) - Boo! Are you scared? Do you want to be scared? Halloween is just around the corner and haunted houses will be in full swing as we creep our way into the holiday.
According to America Haunts, research has shown that people enjoy being scared while in a safe environment such as going on a thrill ride or getting spooked at a haunted house!
Local scarers tell us it takes months to prepare for the season.
"We like to do group exercises, it helps to see what other people have to offer and broaden their view of what they could do," said Kristen Bakken, the co-performance manager at Terror on the Fox.
Her counterpart, co-manager Katana Goss, gave us a few "dead" giveaways they look for when folks coming through are trying to be brave.
"A lot of people will try to act really tough," Katana said. "You're not tough, and then you scare them and they scream and run away."
Across town at Green Bay Fear Haunted House, they're upping their scare game with a new room. Necole Oshefsky, a volunteer there, says it's all a part of the fun.
"It's what you make of it, there's a feeling, electricity in the air," Necole said. "You can feel when it's a good night, kind of like when you go the football game. How they have that electricity in the air of Lambeau field, we have a different kind of electricity here."
With Halloween creeping up, this weekend is expected to be pretty busy for spooky attractions. If you were thinking twice about the scare, we did a test run for you. Check it out here.
