GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Green Bay is looking at two proposals for downtown development.

One includes a grocery store, Wisconsin-based Mauer's Market. It would be a 24,000-foot building in the 200 block of North Monroe Avenue. It could bring around 40 jobs.

80 housing units are also part of that plan submitted by Gorman and Company.

"As we've added residents to the downtown and office workers, they've been looking for a place to shop or maybe grab lunch, so we're very excited that this proposal does include a grocery store as an anchor component to it,” said Kevin Vonck, Development Director City of Green Bay.

If the plan goes through for Gorman and Company's plan featuring the grocery store, construction could start in 2021. T. Wall Enterprises also submitted a proposal to build town homes.
