GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — A Green Bay teacher is accused of sexually assaulting students at Baird Elementary School.

David Villareal has been charged with two felony counts of sexual assault - sexual contact with a person under age of 13 and one felony repeated sexual assault of the same child.

During Villareal's initial court appearance Thursday afternoon, Brown County Assistant District Attorney Hannah Schuchart says it's alleged Villareal sexually assaulted three different children while he was their second grade teacher. In addition to the actual physical contact with the children, it's alleged he made regular inappropriate statements to the students.

Brown County Court Commissioner Chad Resar set a $50,000 cash bond that requires Villareal have no contact with minor victims, Baird Elementary School or unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.

The judge allowed Villareal to reserve bond argument to provide him time to find an attorney, as he doesn't qualify for a public defender. An adjourned initial appearance was scheduled for 2 p.m. April 22.

The school district sent the following letter to Baird Elementary School staff and families:

Dear Baird Families & Staff:
