GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — Eric Vanden Heuvel says he will not seek a second term as Board President for the Green Bay Area Public School District.

He released a statement Tuesday morning regarding the April School Board Election:

It has been a tremendous pleasure to serve my community and the Green Bay Area Public School District (GBAPS) for the past three years. I have made the difficult decision to not seek a second term due to personal and professional challenges that require more of my time. I am honored to have led the school district during a period of significant change, including the hiring of a new superintendent, the opening of the District’s Welcome Center, the repurposing of Jefferson Elementary into a Head Start Learning Center, and the addition of the GBAPS Online School 4K-5.

My time on the Board of Education was certainly eventful, but I am proud of everything we achieved. I want to thank the District staff and my fellow board members for their dedication to GBAPS students, staff and families. GBAPS is well positioned for future success, and I look forward to being a champion of the District for years to come.

Eric Vanden Heuvel was elected to the Board of Education in 2019 and has served as Board President since 2020.
