GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — The 2022 Green Bay Restaurant Week has been canceled. In an announcement Wednesday, organizers of the event say they hope to bring Green Bay Restaurant Week back for 2023.

In March, the organization in charge of the event, Discover Green Bay, said it reached out to restaurant partners to gauge interest in Restaurant Week. Discover Green Bay said participants expressed concerns about current economic conditions, costs of goods and workforce shortages.

“The intention of Restaurant Week since inception has been to promote our local restaurants and drive new business through their doors,” said Brad Toll, president and CEO of Discover Green Bay. “The information we gathered showed that current conditions in the industry would in fact do the inverse and be taxing on our local restaurants.”

Discover Green Bay said it will continue its work to ensure visitors and locals alike are encouraged to visit restaurants, hotels, attractions and events in Green Bay.

“Our restaurant partners stand ready to serve their customers,” said Toll. “But this year our hospitality industry simply cannot sustain the discounted menu items and explosion of demand generated by Restaurant Week.”

Green Bay Restaurant Week, typically scheduled for mid-July, began in 2012 as an effort by Discover Green Bay, the region’s destination marketing organization, to drive customers to area restaurants.
