GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- The Green Bay Police Department is warning the public of scammers going door-to-door asking for money. Police say the scammers claim they're collecting for a homeless charity drive, but the charity drive doesn't exist.

Police advise the public that it's best not to donate to people soliciting money at your door, over the phone or through the mail. It's better to research causes on your own and make sure your money is being sent to the right place.

Police also say scammers will use similar names and logos, so it's important to be thorough in your research.
