GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- A Green Bay Police Department SUV sustained serious damage in a crash early Thursday evening.
Police said the officer had pulled over on an off ramp from Highway 54/57 to investigate a different crash when he was rear-ended by a 1992 Dodge Ram truck being driven by a 17-year-old boy. While both vehicles were significantly damaged, police said no one was hurt.
The road conditions at the time were wet due to the recent rainfall. According to police, the truck driver said he didn't initially see the police car, which had emergency lights activated. When the driver realized the police vehicle was stopped for an emergency, police said he began braking and ultimately lost control on the wet roadway, causing the crash.
Police said this incident serves as a reminder to drivers to slow down, especially during hazardous driving conditions.
