GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Green Bay Police said Friday a fox has been spotted roaming around the city's west side.

Police said the fox was sighted around the neighborhoods near South Ridge Street, Highview, Ernst and Neufeld Street. Police believe the fox is coming from wooded areas near parks. It has also been spotted by residential houses, parks, sidewalks and schools.

Police tell the public to use caution around the fox and to call police if you see it. The Green Bay Police Animal Protection Unit, along with the DNR, are tracking the animal and are trying to capture it. Authorities want to return the fox back to its normal habitat.

Police said officers are doing everything they can to safely capture the fox and remove it from the city. Authorities are concerned the animal may be sick. If you see the fox, police say do not approach it.
