GREEN BAY, Wis. — A 46-year-old Green Bay man banged on doors, chased people and caused a "disturbance" before dying in police custody, Green Bay Police say in an updated news release Monday.

The man, who has not been named, was first spotted Friday on 1424 Admiral Court, and then around the 1400 block of Shirley Street. Police say multiple 911 calls reported a man yelling and screaming that someone was after him, "along with other unintelligible things," police say in a news release.

Green Bay Police say officers used a taser on the man and handcuffed him.

"The officers observed the subject was in distress and began life-saving measures," the news release says. Green Bay Metro Fire/Rescue responded and continued with life saving measures. The man was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Appleton Police Department is investigating this in-custody death. Police say state law requires an outside agency to investigate such incidents.

The man has been identified as a Green Bay resident, but police say he didn't live in the area of this incident. Police say this same man was also involved in another disturbance and arrested earlier in the week in a different part of Green Bay.

Anyone having any information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Appleton Police Department at 920-932-5500.
