GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- The Green Bay Metro Fire Department is sponsoring a fire safety poster contest.

This year's theme: "Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!"

It's open to students in the second through fourth grade, aimed at getting the entire family focused on fire prevention year-round.

"Just to spark a conversation,” said Lt. Shauna Walesh with the fire department. “And it doesn't just have to be about kitchen safety. It could be talking about an escape plan, what do you do if a fire starts in your home at 3 a.m.? Where do we meet? How about figuring out a meeting place? Just anything to kind of spark that conversation to take place within the home.”

There will be a first-place winner in each grade. Firefighters will judge the posters.
