GREEN BAY, Wis. — For the first time in 16 years the citizens of Green Bay will see a new person take the office of mayor. On Wednesday evening, many residents will get their first chance to see what the candidates bring to the table.
The event is organized by the League of Women Voters of Greater Green Bay. Eight candidates are speaking at a forum at the Brown County Library.
Outgoing Mayor Jim Schmitt announced back in October he will not see re-election. Schmitt has been in his office since 2003.
The organizer of Wednesday night’s forum says the goal is to educate voters on the many who hope to fill the office of mayor. Each candidate is expected to present their opinions on the issues they will address if elected.
