CANCELED: Green Alert for veteran missing out of Horicon

HORICON (NBC 26) — UPDATE: Sunday, law enforcement sadly canceled a Green Alert issued for a missing veteran from Horicon after his body was found.

An initial alert Friday afternoon reported 62-year-old Dale Vogt, a man labeled a veteran at risk, walked away from his home without his cell phone or telling his wife where he was going.

According to Horicon police, four teams from Wisconsin K9 SOS Search and Rescue along with a team from the Beaver Dam Police Department conducted numerous searches both Friday and Saturday in search of Vogt. Dodge Co. deputies said two done teams with thermal imaging capabilities were used to assist in locating Vogt.

Horicon officers said five additional Wisconsin K9 SOS search teams and Iron Ridge police officers were assembling to help them continue the search Sunday when they received the sad news. A WSOR work crew reported locating Vogt's body in Rubicon Township. He had sadly passed.

The Horicon Police Department said it was assisted by a member of Mr. Vogt's congregation in notifying the family.

(Friday, 2:58 p.m.) The Horicon Police Department is searching for a man labeled a veteran at risk. He was last seen at 3:15 a.m. Friday.

Police say Dale Vogt walked away from his home without his cell phone or telling his wife where he was going. Dale is described as a shorter male with a slim build, wearing a checkered type shirt with jeans and possibly a baseball cap.

Dale has a history of cognitive challenges. He's a 62-year-old white man with gray hair and hazel eyes. He has a gray goatee.
