GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (NBC 26) — Outagamie County dispatchers said they dispatched firefighters to a duplex fire Saturday morning just after 4 a.m.

The Grand Chute Fire Department said the duplex was located at 1110 South Nicolet.

First reponders said they noticed smoke and flames were visible from the roof.

According to the Department, crews entered the duplex to start putting out the fire and conduct searches. One occupant was found in a duplex unit and was escorted out to safety. The other side of the duplex was vacant.

Firefighters said the fire was confined to the back area of the duplex but did damage both sides of the building. The fire also caused extensive damage to the roof.

Grand Chute firefighters said they were assisted by the City of Appleton, Town of Greenville, and Village of Fox Crossing fire units to combat the fire.

No injuries were reported. The one duplex resident was displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but foul play is not suspected. No further information was released at this time.
