NEENAH, Wis. (NBC 26) -- A nonprofit is offering two options this year for the its Girls on the Run program which helps to teach several life skills to young girls in the community.

The Executive Director says they have created a socially distant in-person group which will have a cap of 12 girls and two volunteer coaches and a virtual option. They wanted to offer both to make sure all girls still have access to being apart of the program even during this time of covid-19.

The program focuses on building confidence, setting and tracking goals to create achievements and to build on running skills. Organizers tell us there are several health benefits to running including mental health wellness.

This program is offered in Brown, Calumet, Outagamie, Calumet, Sheboygan, Manitowoc and Waupaca, however Waupaca will not be participating this year.

Registration opens on Friday July 31, 2020. To register, click HERE.
