GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Georgia-Pacific announced Tuesday it will permanently close its facility on West Mason Street in Green Bay.

In a WARN notice distributed by the state's Department of Workforce Development, 55 workers may be affected by this closure. Twenty-seven of those workers have accepted other roles at other locations within the company. Georgia-Pacific said 28 employees have decided not to seek other roles within the company's Green Bay operations.

Georgia-Pacific said in its layoff notice that the company decided its napkin and towel business should be produced at the company's other facilities, including facilities in Green Bay.

"The Company expects to separate these employees between December 26, 2019 and January 9, 2020," Georgia-Pacific said in its WARN notice.
