NEENAH, Wis — Tonight the victim who was shot and killed by an armed robber in Neenah on Monday morning at the Short Branch Saloon was identified by police as 59-year old Kevin Hein. Today friends of Hines shared what he meant to them and what type of person he was before his life was taken too soon.

On Tuesday new information was released regarding the suspect on the run, accused of shooting and killing Hein during an armed robbery.

Friends of Kevin “Hollywood” Hein say he was a man with an infectious laugh, who would give you the shirt off his own back if you needed it. Those that knew him add that tonight there are hundreds of people across Neenah who just can't believe he's dead, following an armed robbery earlier this week.

Hein's friends at Gord's Pub in downtown Neenah say Hein was a working man who was tall, strong, and had face that was full bearded. But despite his large appearance, friends say Hein was a teddy bear who loved a good hug. His friends tell us that it was a common occurrence for Hein to wait until the bartender ended their shift to leave him, so that he could walk them to their car safe and sound. It was just the type of man he was according to people who knew him best.

"I really hope they catch the guy, because what can I say you’re not going to find a better person than he was. And there isn’t a lot of people like him at all," says a good friend of Hein’s, Mark Lembcke.

Friends of Hein add that he was a charitable man too, and that's likely part of the reason why he was at the Short Branch Saloon the night he was killed. On that particular night the saloon was having a fundraiser called coats for kids.
