STURGEON BAY (NBC 26) -- The former president of a college in Indiana has now been formally charged in Door County on multiple counts involving an alleged sex crime.

Thomas Minar faces charges of child enticement, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, and exposing a child to harmful material. The charges were filed Wednesday, according to online court records. According to a criminal complaint, an undercover officer posed as a 15-year-old boy on Grindr and began chatting with Minar on the app.

The complaint says Minar arranged to meet the officer, who he thought was a teen, at a McDonald's restaurant in Sturgeon Bay. Officers met Minar at the McDonald's and arrested him.

According to Door County, Wisconsin District Attorney Colleen Nordin, Minar was arrested in Sturgeon Bay on January 6. Franklin College in Indiana announced Monday the firing of President Thomas Minar following his arrest. Minar had been president of the college since 2015. Last year, he announced plans to resign at the end of this academic year.

Minar's next court appearance is scheduled for January 27.
