GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Diocese is removing former Bishop Wycislo's name from the Cathedral Center, according to a report from the Compass.
The removal was a part of the diocese’s response to the clergy sexual abuse crisis.
The Compass says the removal was announced in a letter from Bishop David Ricken to Cathedral parishioners on February 23.
SNAP, a group of people supporting those sexually abused by priests, pointed out in a news release that the former Bishop was removed from the center for “failure to adequately handle sex abuse cases”.
"[T]his decision allows those members of our community who may have concerns surrounding Bishop Wycislo’s reported handling of clergy complaints to move forward on a path to healing," Bishop Ricken says in the Compass.
