Wisconsinites who receive food stamps will now receive the maximum monthly amount allowed based on their household size, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Due to “reportable income and other factors,” the average family normally receives less than the maximum allowed amount, according to the USDA.

This change, initially approved for two months in Wisconsin, means every household will receive the maximum amount based on the household’s size.

The maximum monthly amount for a family of four is nearly $650, while a family of three receives nearly $510, according to the USDA.

The increase was requested for March and April, but state officials can make a request to federal officials to extend the program.

The emergency benefits were to be issued for March on April 11, while April's amount was set for April 25, according to Wisconsin's request for the aid.

The increases are part of the federal government’s response to coronavirus.
