FOND DU LAC (NBC 26) -- Fond du Lac Police are investigating a fatal crash.

Police said a crash, involving a car and a moped, happened Saturday morning at the intersection of South Pioneer Road and Forest Avenue.

According to police, the driver of the moped, identified as 62-year-old Thomas L. Norton, was stopped for a stop sign facing west bound on Forest Avenue and failed to yield the right of way while attempting to make a left turn to go south bound on South Pioneer Road. Police said Norton was struck by a 1962 Studebaker that was traveling north bound on South Pioneer Road.

Norton was taken to the Fond du Lac County Airport by Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue where Theda Star Helicopter then flew him to Theda Care Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Police said Norton later died Saturday afternoon at the medical center from his injuries.

Police said the driver of the Studebaker, a 74-year-old North Fond du Lac man, was not injured. Police didn't identify the driver.

The crash remains under investigation.
