Fond du Lac golfer hurt in accidental shooting

DODGE COUNTY (NBC 26) -- A golfer was injured when a man tried to shoot a woodchuck and the bullet ricocheted off some trees, authorities say.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a report Monday morning of a golfer who had received a gunshot injury while golfing at The Golf Club at Camelot, W192 Highway 67 in the town of Lomira.

The Sheriff's Office said it appears a 50-year-old Lomira man was trying to shoot a woodchuck that was on his property. The Sheriff's Office said a bullet ricocheted off some trees and hit an 80-year-old Fond du Lac man. The injury was non-life-threatening and he was taken to the hospital. He was treated and is expected to be released.

The incident is still being investigated.
